If the spirit of Carnival appeals to you and you’d like to experience its magic through to the core, you’ve got to play Carnivalia. It’s a game based on twenty tales set in twenty different places in Venice. With Carnivalia, you’ll get a fulfilling adventure in the city as you’re led by Giacomo Casanova and the secrets he has decided to reveal. These tales, written by Alberto Toso Fei, are about the fun and original aspects of the Venetian carnival tradition.
Carnivalia is the official game of the 2010 Venice Carnival and is the latest edition of WHAIWHAI. It can be purchased in many different places in the city: at Sensation info points and at newsstands in Venice as an add-on to daily newspaper Corriere della Sera. You will also need a mobile phone to activate the game via text message and then proceed on an itinerary of enigmas designed just for you. The stories in Carnivalia and the indications you will receive via text will tell you which direction to go and which places you need to reach in order to decipher the enigmas. If you’re able to solve them correctly, you will then be able to continue searching and exploring.
Carnivalia can be played at any time during the Venetian. You can start the game whenever you wish and can choose which part of the city to play in and whether you want to play alone or challenge your friends.
The carnival celebrations will feature a series of collective events: these will soon be announced at Sensation info points.
